Normally, most market participants, particularly retail or novice traders prefer to trade from the long side of the market. They feel more comfortable being either long (buyers) or flat (have no position at all). My style is different. I like to have both long and short positions as experience and market history have shown that both sides of the market can be advantageous in different markets or time periods. There is nothing really mystical about being a financial asset short (i.e. profiting from the decline of its price) when careful analysis suggests this kind of action. The trading strategies shown in this blog aim for absolute financial returns and therefore long/short as well as neutral market strategies will be used at times.
